As a corporate lawyer, Bahar & Partners recognizes the important role that banks and other financiers
play in the development of Indonesian economy. Admittedly, during the economic downturn resulting from the 1997 “Asian flu” syndrome, many banks
and other financiers responded by being very selective in their funding programs, which resulted in very few facilities
being extended to the business communities. Unfortunately, seems that the global crisis derived from the United States financial institutions’ failure in secondary
mortgage financing starting to influence Indonesian economy by the end of 2008.
